In recognition of Law Day, this program introduces free law and related resources to self-represented individuals and anyone interested in learning more about finding the law.
Have you received a speeding ticket? Signed a contract? Watched a news story about presidential executive orders? Wondered about how to find the law behind any of these? This program is for you.
After an overview of federal and Utah legal systems, participants will explore where to find cases, constitutional provisions, statutes, ordinances, regulations, and executive orders. Then participants will learn about helpful secondary resources that explain laws and form resources such as sample contracts. The program concludes with an overview of free and low-cost legal assistance available in Utah.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own internet-enabled devices.
