Visit our Create Space to learn about tufting and see a live demonstration.

Drop-in between 12-2 pm in the Create Space to learn all about a new service coming soon to our DIY space- tufting! View a live demonstration, see examples made in the space, and learn how you can make your own rugs and wall hangings at the library.

Tufting is the process of passing yarn through a fabric backing (monks cloth) to create textile art, most commonly rugs and wall hangings. A tufting gun uses a mechanical needle to punch yarn through stretched backing fabric. The machine then trims the yarn as it is inserted with mechanical scissors, allowing makers to create textured designs quickly.
