Renée Bergland is the author of Natural Magic: Emily Dickinson, Charles Darwin, and the Dawn of Modern Science and has written for The New York Times, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Nautilus, and The Boston Globe. Bergland has taught at Simmons University since 1999 and has also researched and taught at Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Bergen, University of New Hampshire, and Boston University. She has received major fellowships from the Sloan Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Fulbright Program, with additional research support from the Arts and Humanities Research Council, the Emily Dickinson International Society, the Nantucket Historical Society, and the Boston Athenaeum.
