Award-winning author, Laurie Gwen Shapiro shares the true story behind The Aviator and the Showman, revealing how Amelia Earhart’s fame was built and branded by her husband George Palmer Putnam.

Laurie Gwen Shapiro is the author of The Aviator and the Showman (Viking, 2025) and The Stowaway (Simon & Schuster, 2018), a New York Times bestseller and Indie Next selection. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, New York Magazine, and Slate. The Aviator and the Showman has recently been optioned for film.
