This Adult Night Out event is a multi-day, county-wide scavenger hunt, kicking off with a celebration at the Library's Viridian Event Center.

What is the objective of the hunt?
Acquire as many points as possible by completing missions in Salt Lake County, while getting to know your community better.
Who is running the hunt?
The hunt is being hosted by Salt Lake County Library and the team at the Library’s Viridian Event Center.
Who can participate?
This is a part of the Adult Night Out series, and therefore, is designed for those age 18+. You can participate solo or as a pair.
What types of missions can I expect?
There will be three types of missions: photo, GPS, and text-answer missions. Missions will be related to the library, each city, local businesses, date night activities, and county agencies.
What is the difference between the ultra-competitive and casually competitive hunts?
There will be two different hunts to choose from. Please only compete in one or the other. The ultra-competitive hunt is designed for the experienced or most adventurous scavenger hunters who are looking for a challenge. There will be more missions to complete, the missions will be more demanding and it is expected to be a challenge to compete them all and earn all the points possible. The casually competitive hunt is for those less-focused on their spot on the leaderboard. There will be fewer missions and it will be more likely that teams will have an opportunity to earn all possible points. For both hunts, their will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and new for 2024, there will be judges choice prizes as well as prizes for teams earning a certain number of points, regardless of their rank on the leaderboard.
What is GooseChase?
GooseChase is the app that you will use to participate in the scavenger hunt.
Where is the hunt?
The hunt will have missions located throughout Salt Lake County so you can participate wherever you are.
When is the hunt?
The hunt will begin at Thursday evening, August 8th when an initial round of missions will be revealed - all in preparation for the Friday evening to Saturday evening missions. A kickoff celebration will be held Friday, August 9th at the Library's Viridian Event Center. At the kickoff, the bulk of the missions will be released and there will be a chance to complete Friday-only missions in person. The competition will end Saturday evening and winners will be announced the following week after judges have reviewed submissions.

Registering will allow us to send you the game link, code and other helpful details to get the hunt started smoothly for all participants.

How do I get the app?
The GooseChase app is available on iOS and Android devices. Go to your app store and search for “GooseChase” and download. (It will be orange with goose feet as the icon).
How do I access the Adult Night Out Scavenger Hunt in the app?
Once you are registered for the event and have downloaded the app, you’ll need to search for our hunt by game code. You must have the game code to join, and cannot search by name. The game code will be emailed to you the week of the hunt.
When can I access the scavenger hunt in the app?
The scavenger hunt will go live in the app at 7pm on Thursday, August 8, 2024 and will close at 10pm Saturday, August 10, 2024. Awards will be determined after judges have reviewed all submissions. Anyone qualifying for a prize will be notified by the event center staff.

What is the Missions tab?
The Missions tab is where you will find the full list of scavenger hunt missions. This is also where you will complete the missions for points.
What is the Feed tab?
The Feed tab will show a live feed of all the participants completing missions. You’ll be able to see photo submissions from other participants and when they receive points for GPS and text missions.
What is the Rankings tab?
The Rankings tab will show current scores of all participants, as well as your position on the leaderboard.
What is the Notifications tab?
The Notifications tab is where you will see updates and information from the game hosts during the game.
What is the My Activity tab?
The My Activity tab is your account. It will show your username, photo, and a list of your completed missions.
What if I’m having trouble with one of the missions?

Who gets prizes?
For both the ultra-competitive and casually competitive hunts, their will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and new for 2024, there will be judges choice prizes as well as prizes for teams earning a certain number of points, regardless of their rank on the leaderboard.
When and how will winners be announced?
Once the Games are complete, final scores will be tabulated, judges will review all submissions and the winners will be announced in a message through the Goosechase app and on the Library’s website.

• Participants can choose to compete solo or as a pair. Participants must select during registration and list the name of their partner if competing as a pair.
• Those competing in pairs must complete challenges together using one device on one GooseChase account. Only one GooseChase account will be considered per pair for points.
• Participants are welcome and encouraged to group up with other participants while completing challenges. However, points will be counted for each solo/pair registered, even if you group up with others that are registered while playing.
• Only those listed on your registration are eligible to win.
• All participants must be 18 or older at the time of the event.
• The scavenger hunt officially begins at 7pm on Thursday, August 8, 2024 and ends at 10pm on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Missions will only be available in app during this time.
• From 6-7:30pm on Friday, August 9, 2024, additional points can be earned through missions at the Library’s Viridian Event Center in West Jordan.
• The County Library staff will confirm all mission submissions from winners before winners will be announced. If any submissions do not meet requirements, those points will be deducted and winners re-evaluated.
• Winners will be contacted via email to collect their prize. If prize is not claimed within 72 hours, it may be offered to the next runner-up.
• Participants of the scavenger hunt must abide by all city, county, and state laws and regulations during the hunt. Any violators will be disqualified.
• The County Library staff reserves the right to disqualify or remove any participants from the competition for any reason they deem necessary.
