Elaine K. Howley is an award-winning freelance journalist specializing in health, fitness, sports, and history topics. Her work has appeared in numerous print and online publications, including TIME, U.S. News, AARP.org, espnW, SWIMMER magazine, Atlas Obscura, and others. Her book, A Life Aloft about Olympic diver Tom Gompf, earned the 2023 Buck Dawson Author's Award from the International Swimming Hall of Fame, and she received a 2022 MORE Award from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
