Historian, Keith Beutler will reveal a forgotten strand of early American memory practices and emerging patriotic identity. Along the way he will introduce a fascinating roster of early Americans.
Dr. Keith Beutler teaches history and political science courses at Missouri Baptist University, including upper-level courses in his specialty, the United States’ Founding era. He is the author of George Washington's Hair: How Early Americans Remembered the Founders (Charlottesville: University of Virginia Press, 2021). Professional affiliations include memberships in the American Historical Association, the Society of Historians of the Early American Republic, the Organization of American Historians, and the Conference on Faith and History. He was awarded resident research fellowships from numerous historical organizations, including: the Virginia Historical Society, the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, the New-York Historical Society, the Massachusetts Historical Society, the Pennsylvania Historical Society, the David Library of the American Revolution, the International Center for Jefferson Studies at Monticello, and the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon.
